Acer announced in a blog post that with the help of a Chinese manufacturer called Biwin, it gets into the flash storage and memory sector. Acer’s brand will be slapped on each of these SSDs, but it will be a different company responsible for building them. Even though you see an Acer logo on this storage, it is Biwin who arranges the guarantee for these products.
The latest partnership aims to be the first to market Acer branded products in the US, China, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the UK. Release dates and prices were not shared, however The edge contacted Biwin for more information.
Acer and Biwin are kicking off with a 2.5-inch SATA SSD called the SA100 with a version up to 1.92TB available, which has a read speed of up to 560MB / s. The RE100 comes in a 2.5-inch form factor, or as an M.2 SATA SSD, and both will have configurations up to 4TB, and read and write speeds come in at 560MB / s and 520MB / s, respectively . Finally, a much faster M.2 PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD, the FA100, will come in capacities up to 2TB, with read and write speeds of up to 3,300MB / s and 2,700MB / s, respectively.
The partnership will also deliver a range of laptop and desktop RAM, ranging in capacities from 4 GB to 32 GB per stick, with speeds up to 3600 MHz. All these RAM products are listed as “coming soon” on the Acer storage site.
