Accused predator is behind bars after ‘breaking into great-grandmother’s house, 81, while naked and attacking her indecently while sleeping’

A man who reportedly broke into and attacked a great-grandmother will spend the next three weeks behind bars.
21-year-old Zailn Jahson Hayward is accused of breaking into the 81-year-old’s house in Balga, North Perth, while she fell naked and fell asleep on Sunday night.
He appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday, charged with four criminal offenses, including an aggravation of indecent attacks in the course of an aggravated home burglary and possession of drug trafficking.

Hayward is accused of climbing in through a window and repeatedly beating the older woman when she screamed for help.
He reportedly ran out of the house after the great-grandmother chased him into the kitchen.
The accused predator has not applied for bail and will remain in custody until its appearance next month.
Police said the attack had left the elderly woman emotionally traumatized.
Detective Sergeant Richard Green said the grandmother was now staying with family.
The woman’s 84-year-old husband was at home during the alleged attack, but slept in a different room.
