According to Kim Richards, the book was “murdered by publisher,” but she keeps an advance of $ 300,000
What should have been a “ blazingly honest memoir ” by Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Kim Richards will never see the light of day now, DailyMail.com has learned.
The 56-year-old former child star’s new autobiography, The Whole Truth: The Reality of it All, has been axed by publisher Dey Street Books, a division of Harper Collins, sources say.
It comes more than a year after the Bravo star first announced the book deal for which she reportedly received an advance of $ 300,000.
The narrator promised to reveal the ‘poignant’ and ‘ultimately empowering story’ of Kim, the sister of Kyle Richards and Kathy Hilton – whose children are socialites Paris and Nicky.
The description had touted the book as “ the pathetic confession of a woman who revealed what it was like to be treated like a child star like a show pony, as a throwaway as a wife, a whippole as a sister, and as a famous person. ‘
Kim Richards’ upcoming memoir, The Whole Truth: The Reality of it All, has been ‘murdered’ by publisher Harper Collins, sources told Daily Mail.com. The book promised to be a ‘wildly honest’ account of the reality star’s life (pictured with sister Kyle in 2011)

But there were suspicions that the biography would never hit shelves after the original release date was moved from April 28, 2020 to August last year and again to February 2, 2021.
The book was available for pre-order on Amazon and other retail websites, but the cover was never revealed.
The biography seemed doomed from the start after the release date was postponed several times. The cover was also never released
Harper Collins’ website last showed the memoirs would be published on October 15, 2021, but insiders say this is not the case.
“They killed it,” a source aware of the deal told DailyMail.com. And they let Kim keep the $ 300,000 advance.
[Harper Collins] said they didn’t think they could ‘get’ the money back, so they consider it a loss. ‘
The decision is the final nail in the coffin for the book that has been embroiled in controversy from the start.
Both Kim’s sisters, fellow RHOBH star Kyle, 52, and Kathy 62, were reportedly upset about the family secrets allegedly revealed on the pages.
Last February, Kyle said PEOPLE she and Kathy had been left in the dark about their sister’s new project.
“I didn’t really know about the book,” Kyle said at the time. ‘I mean, she started saying she was working on something, you know, and I didn’t really – I don’t really know much about it. I just know we’re in a good place, so hopefully we’ll stay there. ‘
She told the magazine that Kathy was also “a little shocked” by the book.
In 2019, ghostwriter Alison Kingsley Baker also successfully sued Kim for just over $ 5,000, after learning that she deposited the $ 300,000 advance without paying for her services.
“This book was cursed from the start, with a lawsuit and postponement after delay,” the source said. “No one should be surprised that he finally got the ax.”
Kim’s decision to write a storytelling book reportedly caused drama between her and her sisters, who were reportedly upset about what she could reveal
Kim appeared as one of the main cast members on the hit reality show for five seasons, alongside sister Kyle. She can now only be seen as a guest star
DailyMail.com has contacted Harper Collins and Kim Richards for comment.
The twice-married television personality is known for her colorful past.
In 2015, Kim was arrested for shoplifting for $ 600 worth of goods at a target, and for entering and public intoxication at the Beverly Hills Hotel that same year.
Her former fiancé (John J. Collett) was executed in 1991 by a paid hit man while on the phone with her.
Kim also publicly accused sister Kyle, 52, (and her real estate agent husband Mauricio Umansky, 50) of defrauding her from her part of their late mother’s house in Palm Springs during the first season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
However, the mother of four and now grandmother of two seems a bit more settled these days.
She lives in a guarded two-bedroom, two-bath, $ 600,000 apartment in the San Fernando Valley, just a few miles from Kyle.
Kim was one of the main cast members on the hit reality show for five seasons, but now appears as a guest star only occasionally.
Half-sister Kathy Hilton will now join the cast of Season 11 of RHOBH when it premieres this spring.
