AC Milan has picked up Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan to replace outgoing Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is leaving the Rossoneri on a free transfer.
Maignan moves into second place in last year’s Serie A after just winning the Ligue 1 title in France, with Lille beating PSG to the top title on the final day of the season.
The 25-year-old is widely expected to take the number one position soon to be left by Donnarumma, whose contract with Milan expires at the end of June.

The Italian shot stopper, who made his debut for San Siro at the age of 16, has been strongly linked this summer with moves to Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Milan sports director Paolo Maldini confirmed that Donnarumma will be leaving this summer, with the 22-year-old’s exit being very ‘hard to accept’.
Maldini said this week: ‘Gigio was a leader and often the captain. People sometimes don’t realize what it means to be a pro, it means you have to be ready to change clubs.
Milan CEO Paolo Maldini claimed Donnarumma’s departure is ‘hard to accept’
‘It’s hard to accept, I realize, but it’s also getting harder to see a career in one team. We must respect those who have given so much to Milan and remember that Donnarumma did not disrespect us.
‘Sometimes you may have to take other paths. I can only wish him the best. ‘
Maignan will compete for Milan’s number one jersey as the Rossoneri compete in the Champions League for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
Stefano Pioli’s side finished second in Serie A, but led the Scudetto race until the beginning of February, finishing in the top four only on the last day of the league match season.

The French goalkeeper started his career with PSG, but never made a professional appearance for the first team. He joined Lille for £ 1 million in the summer of 2015, playing 180 appearances for the club.
He was named the Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year for the 2018/19 season and helped win the Ligue 1 title earlier this month.
Maignan, who was once capped by France after playing for Les Bleus at every international youth level, has signed a five-year contract in San Siro.
