ABC star is dumped and goes rogue by claiming bosses ‘weren’t happy’ with the amount of leave he was taking… before returning to air

Veteran ABC weather presenter Paul Higgins left his social media followers confused after announcing he had left ABC before returning to air.

The Victorian meteorologist shared a post with X, explaining that he had “decided to go in a different direction.”

‘For those wondering where I’ve gotten to at ABC, you’ve decided to go in a different direction. A huge thank you to everyone I spoke to and came into contact with during my time on air. I appreciate your comments! #abcnewschannel,’ she wrote.

Despite the announcement, Higgins made an appearance on ABC’s 24-hour news channel.

Then he told him The Australian that network bosses “were not happy with the amount of leave he was taking”.

‘I never heard directly from the news channel about the change. “They told me they weren’t happy with my absences,” she said.

“But apparently they were more than happy with my work.”

He also wrote on X: ‘Thank you for all your kind thoughts! Just to reiterate that I’m still waiting for the 7pm news from Victoria. Just no more ABC News channel.

An ABC spokesperson also told the publication that Higgins will remain the weather presenter in Victoria.

It comes after the reason behind ABC star Lisa Millar’s long absence from the popular News Breakfast show was revealed a month after she disappeared.

In recent weeks, his co-host Michael Rowland hosted the show alongside Emma Rebellato, sparking rumors that Millar had left the network.

‘Where have you been for the last few weeks? Do you have long service leave at ABC News Breakfast? said one fan. “A lot of people think you’ve left the show.”

However, on Tuesday morning, ABC quashed the rumors and officially confirmed that Millar would be returning to News Breakfast on March 27 after completing his filming commitments for Back Roads.
