Zack Wilson once said that if the Jets signed a new quarterback, he would “make this guy’s life practically hell every day.” But Wilson didn’t know they were going to sign Aaron Rodgers.

And with Rodgers arriving in New York ahead of his official unveiling on Wednesday afternoon, he indicated he was relishing a challenge from Wilson.

Rodgers liked a tweet from Barstool Sports retweeting Wilson’s now infamous quotes as he prepares to start a new chapter in his stellar career.

Wilson himself did not comment on this move, but has previously confirmed his admiration for Rodgers.

Speaking last October, Wilson said: “I’ve been watching him since I was a little kid, trying to replicate the way he throws, the way he plays the game.

We didn’t have an NFL team in Utah. I wouldn’t say I was a Packers fan. I was just a fan of Aaron Rodgers. I grew up watching it.

I always loved watching their matches because of him and the kind of place he was in. He was the quarterback I tried to imitate and steal things from.

Jets general manager Joe Douglas said Tuesday that Wilson would get better at working with Rodgers.

“I think that would be a great thing for Zach,” Douglas said of the backup quarterback.

The ceiling of the dreamcatcher is unlimited. The chance to be inducted into the first ballot Hall of Fame would be an amazing opportunity and experience.

Douglas was also thrilled at the prospect of Rodgers leading the Jets in the 2023 season.

Speaking on Tuesday, Jets GM Joe Douglas was thrilled at the prospect of Rodgers’ arrival.

“In the end (we were able to) secure what we feel is a historic deal for this franchise,” Douglas told reporters on Tuesday.

Aaron is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play this game and for the opportunity to add a player of this caliber you will always look into it.

“We’re all excited to add someone of his personality and ability.”

New York will receive not only Rodgers but the Packers’ 15th pick and fifth rounder in the NFL Draft on Thursday, when the deal is ratified.

In exchange, Green Bay acquired the Jets’ 13th draft option, as well as their second and sixth, and a conditional 2024 second-round pick, which would become their first if Rodgers plays 65 percent of the picks this season.

“We’re comfortable with how this deal was framed,” Douglas said. In any negotiation, I don’t think anyone walks away where you feel like you’ve won it all. But in the end our aim from the start was to add Aaron to the team.
