Was it a pick or a scratch? And why was Aaron Rodgers' index finger touching his mouth?

There have been many low points for the New York Jets over the years. The Butt Fumble and Bill Belichick’s defection to the rival New England Patriots stand out, although anything after the team’s Super Bowl III loss to the Baltimore Colts in 1969 deserves consideration.

But as he fell to 2-5 with Sunday’s 37-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, quarterback Aaron Rodgers found a new way to crystallize the embarrassment of Jets fans.

“The Jets season is on fire and Aaron Rodgers is on the sideline eating his snot,” one fan wrote on social media after NBC cameras appeared to show the four-time MVP doing exactly that.

Sunday night was pretty bad for Rodgers, who reunited with former Packers teammate Davante Adams, only to connect with the All-Pro receiver on just 3 of 9 targets. And then there were Rodgers’ two interceptions that night, which only gave fans more ammunition online.

Referring to footage of Rodgers touching his nostrils, one fan commented that it was his “third pick of the game.”

Others preferred to attack Rodgers for proudly refusing to receive any COVID-19 vaccine.

‘Vaccinated?’ wrote one.

“Ivermectin side effects,” stated another.

Lastly, one fan simply chastised Rodgers for eating empty calories.

“Ouch,” he wrote. “There’s no nutritional value in those.”

Things were so bad for Rodgers that fans began to pine for Zach Wilson, the former first-round pick who failed with the Jets before reemerging as a backup in Denver this year. A year ago, with Wilson replacing the injured Rodgers, the Jets were 4-3. They are now 2-5 and fans are preparing for another rebuild.

“Someone needs to vaccinate America so they don’t have to watch this failed, conspiracy-hound, fake-smart QB and his horse offense on national TV all the time,” veteran NFL columnist Jason wrote on X The Canfora.

‘I wish I was immune to their trash offense. Is there a possibility for that? Who is Rodgers going to blame for this shit show?

Rodgers later criticized the media for doubting the Jets.

When asked how to keep the belief alive in the team’s locker room, Rodgers said players need to “stop listening to you guys, number one.”

Rodgers added: “I just have to win, starting this week.”

The Jets travel to Foxborough on Sunday to face the Patriots (1-6), the only team below New York in the AFC East standings. Rodgers and the Jets previously dominated the Patriots, 24-3, in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on September 19.
