Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he’s had his toughest training camp in years.
Rodgers said Jets coach Robert Saleh has made players go through a much tougher workout than last year or than teams, including the Packers, typically have in today’s NFL. Rodgers sees pros and cons to that approach.
“Camp is a lot tougher this year, and maybe the toughest it’s been in the last seven or eight years of my career,” Rodgers said. “I knew that, I had a little bit of an idea coming into camp, that’s what Robert wanted to do. Some people believe that even though it puts more pressure on you in training camp, it prepares you better to play when the season starts, and other people believe the opposite.”
Rodgers said the starting offense has run about 300 more plays this camp than last year, and he’s optimistic they’ll see results from that on the field.
“I like it, it’s been great, you talk to the older players and there’s not a lot of complaints from them,” Rodgers said. “The younger players don’t know any better, so it’s good.”
