Aaron Glenn has wasted no time putting together his first staff as coach of the New York Jets

New New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has reportedly targeted six coaches to join his first staff in the Big Apple, including a pair of former head coaches.

Glenn is targeting Steve Wilks as his defensive coordinator, as well as former Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley.

Former Chicago Bears interim head coach Thomas Brown is also being considered by Glenn, according to Fox Sports.

The search is on for one of his former players, former NFL defensive back Chris Banjo, to become the Jets’ special teams coach. He is currently on the Broncos’ special teams staff.

Mark Brunell, the former NFL star and current Lions quarterbacks coach, could continue the Motor City exodus and join the Jets as well.

Mike Westhoff retired after the 2024 NFL season, with Glenn reaching out to see if a turnaround in his career was possible.

Glenn has been the Lions defensive coordinator since 2021, getting his first shot as head coach for the team that selected him in the first round 31 years earlier.

Since losing to the Washington Commanders in the Divisional round on Saturday, the Lions have lost three assistant coaches, including Glenn, to other teams.

Detroit offensive coordinator Ben Johnson got his own job as head coach with the Chicago Bears.

Defensive line coach Terrell Williams was promoted to Mike Vrabel’s New England Patriots staff as defensive coordinator.

Glenn is the seventh head coach the Jets have hired since 2000, with all but one, Adam Gase, a first-time head coach when they were hired.

The Jets fired Robert Saleh as the team’s head coach in October amid a very disappointing season.

One of Glenn’s biggest tasks now is how to use his squad, with Aaron Rodgers leading the way.
