Annika Osterlund, 21 years old, published a viral TikTok video On May 27, she said yes to a proposal made by a man during their first date.
Osterlund’s date, whom he did not identify in the video, got down on one knee and popped the question as the excited TikToker smiled.
The newly engaged couple walked away happily, but Osterlund revealed in a TikTok follow-up video that she and her Hinge date weren’t getting married.
‘I should probably start by saying that we were both involved in this; We decided to do it together,’ she wrote in the comments section of his proposal video.
Content creator Annika Osterland, 21, posted several videos on TikTok yesterday that focused on a fake proposal she and her Hinge date made in Madison Square Park.
Osterlund has regularly posted videos to her YouTube (@AnnikaOsterlund) and TikTok (@bigfishenergy) accounts for almost 10 years.
The Massachusetts native currently lives in New York, which is where her Hinge date jokingly asked her to marry him.
The two casually walked through Madison Square Park as Osterlund held a small bouquet of flowers before his date got down on one knee.
Many park-goers around them started cheering and applauding the two after hearing her say yes to his fake marriage proposal.
Osterlund’s date then raised a fist in the air right after sharing what she revealed on another tiktok video It was his first kiss.
“If you saw me get engaged yesterday in Madison Square Park, you should know that it was my first Hinge date, and when we kissed after I said yes, it was the first time we kissed,” she wrote in the video.
The unidentified man in Osterlund’s video had a smile as big as Osterlund’s, and a park visitor sitting on a bench even gave him a high-five after the proposal.
Osterlund and his date seemed to get along great in the video, but their potential love story may already be over.
Osterlund admitted in the comments section of one of his videos that the proposal was his idea, but he bought the ring himself.
Osterlund was active in the comments left by TikTokers on the videos she posted yesterday, particularly those who wrote about her and her Hinge date prank.
According to the TikTok user, her Hinge date lives on the other side of the country.
“My man actually lives in San Diego so I may never see him again which makes it even crazier,” she wrote in a comments section yesterday.
One person commenting on the proposal video even asked Osterlund how many times her date had done this, to which she responded “probably never.”
Osterlund also revealed that he had bought the ring himself, but was unsure where he got it.
Several TikTokers who commented on the videos congratulated her on what they assumed was a real engagement.
Some TikTokers hoped that Osterlund and his unnamed date would continue dating. However, he confirmed that he lives in California and she probably won’t see him again.
‘That first kiss is a great cure. You have the mental preparation and it’s also dumb and ridiculous,” one commenter wrote on his proposal video.
TikTokers barely wrote about the fact that it was a Hinge date, but one person wanted to find a successful relationship on the dating app.
“This makes me want to get back on Hinge so I can find someone to do this with,” the commenter wrote.
Other users praised the proposal in her three TikTok videos she posted yesterday, with one person even wishing Osterlund and her fake fiance would have “a long and prosperous relationship.”
