Woman ‘in her sixties’ and her dog are stabbed to death in a gruesome assault in broad daylight in a California park by a 23-year-old murderer who was then knocked unconscious by a bystander who threw a stone

A woman in her 60s was stabbed to death along with her dog in a gruesome daylight attack in a Los Angeles park, which ended when a passerby knocked her killer unconscious with a stone.
The woman has not been named, nor is the 23-year-old perpetrator. He was described by the police as a Spanish man.
The attack took place on Thursday at Lone Hill Park in San Dimas near Los Angeles.

The woman was walking her dog when the attacker approached another man around 1:30 PM.
He tried to stab him and that man escaped.
The attacker then went for the woman. First he took her dog’s leash and started stabbing the animal.
After he killed the animal, he started attacking the woman.
The first man he approached saw what was happening and hurried back to help.
He picked up a stone and hit the man on the head with it. He was knocked unconscious.
The woman and the dog were both pronounced dead on the spot and the attacker was taken to hospital.
He is expected to be released from hospital today to be placed in prison on a charge of murder.
“If the suspect is medically cleared, he will be transported to San Dimas Station and booked for murder,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement.
On Thursday, police were seen interviewing neighbors on the street while the suspect was in hospital
