Marriage is one kind of life sentence, but this woman’s fiancé is serving another: for murder.
Kat met her fiancé Lazy when they were both 13 and described them as “childhood sweethearts.”
After losing touch after high school, Lazy found Kat on Facebook after 11 years and the two reconnected; however, a quick Google search found that he was already serving time in prison.
Although Kat says Lazy is the love of her life, her family and friends are strongly against the relationship, as he is currently serving a life sentence plus 35 years for murder.
“My heart broke,” she admitted.
Kat met her fiancé Lazy when they were both 13 and described them as “childhood sweethearts.”
However, that didn’t stop the couple from dating before officially becoming a couple in March 2021.
“I feel like he thought we became an official couple the first day we started talking,” she chuckled.
“He called me his girlfriend and I was like ‘you never asked me’ and then he finally asked me,” she recalled.
Kat explained that she often receives a lot of comments and messages from trolls and that her family also reacts “very badly” when they find out, particularly her mother, who refuses to talk to her about Lazy.
“I can’t talk to her about my relationship,” she complains. “I feel like I should give her a chance. I’m not a child, I’m an adult and I deserve to be happy.”
However, this hasn’t stopped him from making Lazy part of his family.
She explained that the criminal became a stepfather to her daughter Bella.Because of their bond ‘in the relationship.
“I’m really happy that they get along,” she added.

Kat said the idea of her daughter and her fiancé getting along made her “really anxious and nervous,” but she believes it all turned out for the best.
“I have never introduced my daughter to another man, especially someone who is in prison,” he vowed.
“He always looks after her so she doesn’t miss any birthdays or Christmases or anything,” she added.
Lazy said he loves being Bella’s stepdad because he doesn’t have any biological children of his own and always wanted some.
“I love her very much,” he said passionately.
The mother added that she told her daughter about Lazy’s crime and said she wants her to know that “her actions have consequences.”
“I think it’s very important for her to see the reality of real life,” she said.
Despite the negative comments, Kat said Lazy makes her feel “good and safe.”
She explained that the criminal became a stepfather to her daughter Bella, “because of the bond they have in their relationship” (pictured with Bella).
‘(He always) calls me, sends me letters, buys me gifts, pampers me because he knows that my love language is gifts,’ she shared.
He keeps in touch with Lazy through phone calls and emails, adding that if they are having a ‘fight’, he will go to the prison to visit him.
Lazy said he has no regrets about starting a romance in prison, telling Kat in a phone call: “Just because I’m in prison doesn’t mean I shouldn’t continue living my life.”
Despite criticism from those she loves and strangers alike, Kat loves Lazy and wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world.
“People who judge us say, ‘I really don’t care at all, it has nothing to do with me,'” she said.
“Lazy positively influenced my life,” she continued. “He showed me and taught me what unconditional love is and made me a better woman.”
