A woman has slammed an obstetrician who ignored conditions she believes she suffers from after watching Grey’s Anatomy and took offense when she was suggested weight loss treatments instead.
The woman, who goes by Peach on TikTok, explained in a video posted online that during a video consultation she told her doctor that she likely suffered from postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS).
But instead of listening to her theories, she claims her health care professional began “hating” about “bariatric surgery,” her BMI (body mass index), and suggested she might be a candidate for the weight-loss drug Ozempic.
“Medical fatphobia is widespread,” he said.
In a teary-eyed video lasting more than three minutes, Peach said she wasn’t at all impressed by her last date.
‘Normally she’s always been very, very good, but I haven’t seen her in a few months… but she asked me how all my gastrointestinal things were going due to my autoimmune disease and I was completely honest with her because I felt safe and told her that I felt like my doctors were ignoring me,” she explained.
A woman took to TikTok to share her health concerns with her followers after she was unhappy with the advice her doctor gave her.
The woman claimed that she did not like the advice she was being given and had even used the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy to self-diagnose her problems.
‘They weren’t listening to me. They didn’t suffer any side effects from the medication I’m taking, and one of the serious symptoms I experience I discovered through Grey’s Anatomy.
‘She (the doctor) started talking to me and said, “Well, what do you think you have?”
‘I said I had Covid last fall and I think I might have POTS, and I might also have EDS because my hip slides out of place all the time. I have all these little symptoms.’
But what seemed to irritate Peach was when her doctor started suggesting that her weight could be the cause of many of her ailments.
‘She knows I have a history of eating disorders… eating disorders. She starts talking about BMI and then starts recommending Ozempic to me. I am visibly distressed by this phone call. I’m going to cry now,” she says through tears.

The woman says she asked the doctor not to talk to her about BMI because of “its history as a tool of eugenics, racism and colonialism, and I am indigenous.”
He claims the doctor asked him what term he should use instead, but he struggles to share his response, stating, “I’ve never had this experience with her before.”
This left the woman crying because she almost felt betrayed by the doctor and effectively embarrassed.
‘I just finished telling you that my doctors don’t listen to me, so I’m really fucking tired of medical professionals… I don’t know what to do.
He added: “Medical fatphobia is widespread, even in Canada.”
Fatphobia is said to be prevalent when patients meet with doctors, only to feel they are being treated with bias and disdain, focusing on weight and assuming that fat women have more negative personal qualities, according to a study. study from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Across the United States, politicians have been planning laws to add a person’s weight to the list of characteristics such as race, age, religion and sexual orientation that are protected from discrimination.
Peach appeared upset in the video and explained that she felt her potential medical conditions were overlooked due to her weight.
Several progressive cities have already begun passing laws aimed at preventing discrimination against fat people: San Francisco, Washington DC, and, as of November 2023, New York City, among them.
Weight acceptance advocates reject medical evidence of the health risks of being too overweight and view those who are questioned about their weight as victims of oppression, denouncing anything that smacks of criticism of being overweight as a personal attack and even a hate crime.
But Peach’s video has drawn widespread criticism online, reposted on X by TikTok releasesand some said the woman was ignoring important advice.
‘She felt that this particular doctor would be “safe” because she thought he would agree with everything she said and allow her to make her own diagnosis. Instead, her doctor was too professional to lie to her,” one person said.
‘If you say to a medical professional, “My other doctors don’t listen to me.” What they hear is, “I’m a problem patient and my other doctors are probably right.” In this case it seems true,” said another.
“Maybe, my friend, you think your doctors don’t listen to you, but the reality is you don’t,” said another.
“Your doctor’s advice will save your life,” added a fourth.
