The 2024-25 season will already be memorable for the Toffees, regardless of how their season unfolds, as they bid farewell to Goodison Park.

Goodison Park was the first major stadium built in England, rivaled only by Scotland at the time with Celtic Ground and Ibrox, so it will be difficult to see it work.

This impressive development set the tone for football stadiums across the country.

However, the blue side of Merseyside will soon leave all that history behind when it moves from the infamous grounds to its new wonder on Liverpool’s famous seafront in less than six months.

That said, Sean Dyche’s men have yet to play a full season at Goodison, adding a final year of history to the grounds before calling Everton Stadium their new home… but who will Everton play in their final match? at Goodison?

They will play Saints on Sunday May 18 at 3pm in their penultimate game of the season, however it will be their last tie at Goodison before moving on.

Can Everton get a win in their final game at Goodison?

It looks hopeful for Sean Dyche’s men as, first and foremost, they won’t be playing any of the so-called ‘Big Six’ clubs in their farewell match, which is a plus.

Everton fans will have some confidence at Goodison that they can get the win as they face one of the newly promoted teams.

While the Toffees are looking to put the past behind them, they have history on their side when it comes to this fixture.

They have the best record against the Saints in their head-to-head matchups dating back to January 27, 1900.

The two teams have met a whopping 109 times, with Everton winning the game 52 times, drawing 23 and losing 34.

Why did Everton request that the final game of the season not be played at Goodison Park?

It has been revealed that Everton requested that their final match at Goodison Park not take place on the final day of the Premier League season as they wanted to give the infamous ground the biggest send-off possible.

The final round of matches of the Premier League season each year takes place at the same time on the same day; for the next season it will be at 4 pm on Sunday, May 24.

This would mean Everton’s farewell to Goodison could be lost among the other stories that may unfold that day.

To combat that possibility, Everton have had their request not to play their final game at Goodison on the final day granted. Instead, they will play it a week early.
