This comes after online sleuths claimed last week that Donald Trump’s vice presidential nominee loved wearing eyeliner and accused him of using a thin line of black makeup to make his eyes appear bluer.

Several photographs shared online claim to provide evidence that Vance is a fan of eyeliner, which is most often used by women.

Photojournalist Zach Roberts claimed to have definitive proof, writing: “I really thought people were joking about this, but then I photographed it last week. Vance is wearing 100% eyeliner.”

The rumour is false, but it has still angered certain sectors of the political class.
