A traffic sign appears in Brighton Melbourne to warn residents of theft after Bec Judd’s warning

Date:

A huge electronic billboard warning residents to “lock up your houses” and “watch out for home security” has been erected on the roadside in one of Melbourne’s most luxurious suburbs.

The sign, in Brighton, is near Bec Judd’s $7 million mansion and appears after the AFL WAG razed the area which was under siege by gangs.

Roadside warnings, posted by the Bayside City Council, now tell residents to “remember to lock your car and home” and to “keep home safety in mind” after a series of raids on the area multi-million dollar homes.

Ms Judd recently doubled down on her furious claim that Melbourne’s elite suburbs are dangerous after a man’s luxury Mercedes was stolen with his pet dog still inside.

After complaining last May that she felt unsafe in her $7.3 million Brighton mansion, Judd took to Instagram again in February to criticize the Victorian government.

‘Same shit, different night. Yesterday the Queensland government announced major changes to juvenile delinquency laws due to outrage from the community. It is time for the Victorian government to do the same.

His tirade came after Richard Buxton, from the same posh suburb, revealed that his black Mercedes van was stolen while he was shopping for bread and milk at a local supermarket.

Mr Buxton said he had only been in the store a few minutes when two men got into his car and sped away, with their two-year-old Moe golden cavoodle inside.

Two men believed to be connected to the robbery were later arrested after fleeing on foot when they collided with a white BMW around 11:45 a.m.

Roadside warnings now tell residents to “remember to lock your car and home” and to “keep home safety in mind” after a series of break-ins in the multi-million dollar housing areas.

There was initially no sign of the dog, but Victoria Police said it was finally reunited with its family a few hours later.

Before their emotional reunion, Buxton’s wife, Terry, told 7News it was like a “bad dream”.

I love him to the moon and back. I can’t believe this has happened,” she said.

“I just hope someone is out there and finds it and brings it to me, I don’t care about the car.”

Bayside Council has been contacted for comment.

Judd, who is married to West Coast and Carlton legend Chris Judd, also shared the story of another Brighton woman who revealed how her home was almost robbed.

‘We had two intruders in our garage at 7:30 am this morning trying to steal our car. They were wearing high visibility masks, Covid and sunglasses,” the woman wrote in a post shared by Judd on Instagram.

“My husband annoyed them and they ran to their getaway cars where their driver sped erratically. My children were all at home at the time.

The latest drama comes after Judd claimed in May last year that the state was doing nothing about “gang rapes, assaults and home invasions” in his posh Bayside area.

“I personally know of two women who experienced home invasions in Brighton in recent weeks while at home,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

She reposted CCTV footage of a group of young men lurking outside properties in her affluent suburb and claimed it made her feel “unsafe”.

The teens, who were allegedly armed with knives, were filmed lurking outside several Bayside-area properties before crashing a stolen BMW into a tree.

The AFL prankster shared two stories of crime in the area, including one in which a man’s car and dog were stolen.

Prime Minister Daniel Andrews responded to Judd after her post made headlines, dismissing her complaint.

“I think there are over 70 additional police officers in the Bayside area, and the most recent crime statistics released by an independent agency would not support those general assessments of crime patterns,” he said at the time.

Andrews said an additional 500 police officers and 50 public service officers were deployed as part of the state budget last May.

“I respectfully say this to Bec Judd, or anyone, I don’t want anyone to feel unsafe,” he said.

‘I’m sorry she feels that way. The data would tell a different story, but it is about personal feelings and her sense of safety.

He left Moe in his black Mercedes and headed to the store, only to have two men jump into their car and speed off.

Brighton residents also rejected suggestions that they feel unsafe in their homes, although they did admit that there was a spike in crime when Daily Mail Australia took to the streets of Melbourne’s fourth-richest suburb last May.

A shopkeeper, who did not want to be named, told Daily Mail Australia that his salon had been attacked numerous times by opportunistic thieves.

Attacking in the dead of night, the robbers forced their way into the Church Street shop and helped themselves to whatever they wanted.

It’s a smash and grab thing. They break our window, grab what they want and run away,” said the store owner.

Judd lives in a Spanish Colonial-style mansion with his family in the wealthy suburb after spending millions on it in March 2018.

The sprawling house has its own gymnasium and magnesium salt pool, as well as a tennis court that can be turned into “a football oval or a cricket pitch.”

Last week, the Agency for Crime Statistics revealed that Brighton is the most attacked suburb in Bayside, with 954 crimes reported in 2022.
