As the cost of living continues to hit Britain, one thrifty influencer has shared budget hacks to keep cool.
As the Met Office has predicted today will be the “hottest day of the year”, Elliot Jeory, 38, from Preston, Lancashire, has shared tips and tricks for staying cool that won’t cost you a penny.
Elliot began sharing his tips online following the rise in energy bill prices in the UK, however, in his latest TikTok video, which has racked up over 61,000 views, the content creator revealed his lesser-known hacks for saving money over the summer.
To avoid unwanted sweating and overheating, Elliot, who is happily married to wife Rebecca, 32, suggested people should drink warm beverages and, bizarrely, put their socks in the freezer.
Meanwhile, he also suggested creating a makeshift pillow using frozen peas and a towel to keep cool at night.

Drink hot coffee
First, Elliot said you shouldn’t skip your morning coffee. Hot drinks are a must because they cool your body down in dry conditions, but not when you’re sweating.
PUT YOUR SOCKS IN THE FREEZER
Elliot also advised people to chill their socks in the freezer and put them on before bed to keep them cool, as well as putting moisturizer and sunscreen in the refrigerator, so they are cold when applied.
WASH YOUR WRISTS
To cool down, rinse both wrists with cold water and be sure to wear cotton due to its breathable material.

USE YOUR COMMON SENSE
Another of his videos included tricks that only require a little common sense (which many forget) and racked up 36,000 views.
Elliot said to close the window when the sun is shining, not use the oven, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, avoid moving around too much and create a makeshift pillow using frozen peas and a towel.
SAVE A FEW POUNDS
With over 50,000 views, another clip reveals how to save money during the heatwave.
She said people should wash dishes and shower in cold water, use an air fryer instead of an oven and eat meals that don’t require cooking, such as salads.
Elliot advises turning off the fan at night to save on bills (and for safety reasons) and putting all water bottles in the freezer so they stay colder and last longer.

Parts of south-east England are expected to hit a scorching 32C today, with an unusual 29C expected in the south-west.
And some places in England and Wales are likely to meet official heatwave criteria.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has also issued a yellow heat health warning for the entire country, except in the north-east and north-west.
While these tricks may only provide temporary relief from the sweltering heat, there’s no need to panic.
In true British style, a yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorms across much of England for Thursday, with “lightning, hail and gusts of wind.”
Last year, the TikToker was criticised online for her budget-friendly date night dishes, however, she impressed some followers with her other amazing tips, including making roast dinners for six with all the fixings for £25.
The 36-year-old has gone viral again as he shared some of his favourite dishes that cost less than £1 to prepare, including romantic meals for couples.
But not all customers have been drawn to the dishes, which include spaghetti with baked beans for 53p.
“I believe that any meal can be used as a date night meal and you shouldn’t have to combine expensive meals with romance,” Elliot said.
“It’s not about the food, it’s about the person and their character. With a little imagination, you can prepare a decent meal for little money.”
‘Rebecca and I want to help people by showing them what they can buy and prepare if they have little money, but I would gladly eat these meals too.
‘I try to make videos that are light-hearted and a little bit tongue-in-cheek to make people laugh and also to get advice.
‘But as far as cooking for a date goes, if the person really likes you, they’ll laugh at the food and if not, then that says a lot about them.
In some of her date-inspired videos, which have over two million views combined, Elliot shares meals such as a £1.20 date lunch that includes wholemeal bread and fish fingers and a second date meal for just 60p for a cheese panini.
