A third AFL star was reportedly “caught” in a late-night brawl on Boxing Day alongside a Richmond player and a Melbourne defender.
The Herald Sun reported last week that Dion Prestia and Steven May were part of a group that was “harassed and attacked” at around 2am last Thursday.
It is understood the incident took place near the Continental Hotel in Sorrento, on the Mornington Peninsula, and two people were subsequently taken to hospital suffering non-life-threatening injuries to their upper and lower bodies.
Police are understood to be investigating the matter.
Sources close to The Herald Sun claimed the premiership’s winning couple had been among the group, adding that the altercation was started by other parties.
‘Prestia saw what happened, but was in no way involved. “They were not involved in any physical altercation,” a spokesperson for the Prestia and Richmond team said.

Demons star Steven May is also said to have been present during the incident.
The Herald of the Sun He also added in a separate report published on Thursday that another AFL star is understood to have been “in the vicinity” at the time the fight took place.
The outlet did not reveal the identity of the third player, but stated that the soccer star enjoys “something of a public profile” before adding that they “could help with enquiries.”
There is no allegation that any of the players were involved in the physical melee.
It is understood that the victims have had no interest in making a report to the police.

Prestia and May signed with Gold Coast in the 2010 National Draft, and the Richmond star played for the Queensland team for six seasons.
May would stay eight seasons and make 123 appearances with the Suns before moving to Melbourne in 2019.
The Premiership-winning duo have achieved great success since leaving the Suns.

May would win the AFL Grand Final in 2021, pick up an all-Australian jacket the same year and again in 2022.

He was also seen enjoying the festive period at a vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula.
He shared a photo of himself at the Eldridge Estate winery in Red Hill, enjoying a charcuterie board.
