A Texas family is demanding answers after their seventh-grade daughter returned from school with second-degree burns on her hands, allegedly from a punishment for laughing in class.
Caldwell Junior High’s Caydence Wilson suffered burns in high school, and her mother, Chloe Couch, shared her daughter’s injuries Sunday morning in a social media post.
The charge was quickly shared by people disturbed by what they saw, and some of the images were incredibly difficult to watch.
KBTX He spoke with both at length about what allegedly caused the burns, while the school issued a statement saying it was investigating.

“She tried to contact me, and it wasn’t until I was on the bus coming home that she sent me those pictures of those blisters oozing,” Couch said of her daughter’s injuries, which have already placed a financial burden on the family. . caldwell family
“I’m a single mother of three children,” she said. ‘So I live paycheck to paycheck and make ends meet as best I can for my children.
“I can’t pay the medical bills, the medications and the bandages we have to apply every four to six hours for the pain.”
Accompanied by Caydence, the mother recalled the harrowing hospital visit she and the girl were forced to sit through after the girl’s softball coach allegedly forced her to bear crawl across a scorching field.
“Having to be next to him in the hospital and not being able to hold his hands because he has blisters from second-degree burns on both of his hands; I can’t hold his hands and he’s screaming and yelling, it was tragic,” Couch recalled.
Mentioning local police officers, he said: “I hope they are informed.”
With a stone face, the mother added: ‘[I hope] Don’t let anything happen to other children because I would hate for him not to be taken care of and for someone else to be hurt as badly as Caydence.’

But she and her mother say all was not well, citing not only the second-degree burns suffered, but also the excruciating pain that accompanied them.
Caydence said of the burning sensation she felt before and after her blisters burst: “Like a burning pain, unbearable, it was like a knife was stuck in the bottom of my palm.”
When asked if she felt the school was to blame, the young woman said, “I feel like what happened to me could have been stopped and I could have done what I love most without being hurt.”
Meanwhile, the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it was investigating the incident, as the family considers legal action against the school district.
The taxpayer-funded body, known as the Caldwell Independent School District, issued a vague statement about the incident as Couch’s Facebook post gained traction online.
“Caldwell ISD is aware of the Facebook post that circulated early this morning,” they told KBTX, as neither they nor police named the employee accused of the alleged infraction.
“We take any reports of incidents very seriously and are actively investigating the matter in accordance with our established protocols and procedures,” the update continues.
“Please be assured that appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of our investigation.”
“I’m a single mother of three,” Couch added of the financial burden Caydence’s injuries have placed on the family. “So I live paycheck to paycheck and make ends meet however I can for my kids.” She said she doesn’t believe her apology and is now considering legal action.
During her interview, Couch said she feels the statement is disingenuous and doesn’t mean much to her or Caydence.
Meanwhile, both investigations are reportedly underway, after Caydence said the incident occurred after she and a friend laughed in one of her classes.
The principal told them they would be detained and then tell their softball coach about the situation. He followed up with a round of 100 squats, as well as the aforementioned bear crawls.
