A British tourist has described how two robbers dragged her away and sexually assaulted her in Magaluf while she was on the phone with a relative.
Speaking in court today, the terrified woman recalled how the relative heard her scream for help before being rescued by local police officers.
The alleged attackers, two men aged 20 and 25, had restrained her, she said.
“I don’t know what would have happened if the police lights had not appeared,” he declared today before the Provincial Court of the Balearic Islands.
The woman, who has not been identified, said she was on holiday in Mallorca and that on the night of the attack she had gone to a cocktail bar in Magaluf, a party town on the island known for its nightlife popular with Brits.
A British tourist described being dragged and sexually assaulted by two robbers in Magaluf (pictured, file photo) while speaking on the phone to a relative.
He said he left the bar to call his relative in England, but there was too much noise in the area, so he walked further away from the bar.
It was then, she said, that she encountered the two young men, who surrounded her, one in front of her and one behind her.
According to the alleged victim, one of the men covered her mouth and dragged her to a less crowded area. There they took her jewelry, her watch and her phone.
His phone was still connected to the call with his relative, who heard the woman’s screams, prompting him to rush to catch a flight to Mallorca.
The woman said that in addition to taking her belongings, the men groped her while speaking to her “in very bad English.”
She said they tore her dress and touched her genital area. She insisted that she resisted the attack at all times, but that they had her immobilized on the ground.
She said she “just wanted to get them off my back.”
When the prosecutor asked her if she thought the men intended to rape her, she said she didn’t know, but she was grateful the police arrived when they did.
“I don’t know what would have happened if the police lights hadn’t shown up.”
Just for a change, a local police car drove by the scene of the alleged attack with its flashing blue lights on.
The woman said that when she realized that it was a patrol car, the attack was interrupted and she was able to free herself from her alleged attackers.

According to the officers, who also appeared in court, one of the defendants stepped into the path of the vehicle, attempting to block its field of vision.
“That didn’t make much sense,” one of the agents recalled. ‘Ask us the time, for example. It seemed suspicious to us.
Then, they said, the men tried to flee. They jumped the fence of a sports venue but were caught after a chase by the police.
The officers recalled how the shocked woman tried to tell them what had happened and managed to make them understand that she had been sexually assaulted.
“She was very nervous, she was crying, she couldn’t stop shaking,” one of the officers told the court, recalling that the woman had blood on her thigh and that one of the suspects had scratches on his cheeks.
When an officer searched one of the two men, he said he found items that had been stolen from the woman, including a watch she had hidden in her underwear.
Police said that when they informed the two men that they were being arrested, they reacted with violence and threats.
The woman said she had been on holiday in Mallorca and on the night of the attack had gone to a cocktail bar in Magaluf, a party town on the island known for its nightlife popular with Britons.
One said that ‘he was going to kill us, that he was going to send his relatives to kill us’ and that he had ties to a criminal gang, one of the officers said.
The Prosecutor’s Office has requested a sentence of 17 and a half years for the first of the accused, and 20 years for the second.
In addition, they ask that the accused be forced to compensate the tourist with 16,000 euros (£13,700) and the police officers with smaller sums.
The trial will continue on Friday.
