A swarm of bees forces the Glasgow bar to close

Private pest controllers also refused to help after seeing the size of the bee swarm. Beekeepers were eventually found and will remove them on Wednesday.

There have been warnings that Britain will see a spike in bee swarms this summer due to warm temperatures.

In Manchester, a swarm recently took over a coffee shop table, with reports of lampposts and wheelbarrows also being overrun.

Gareth Trehearn, from Manchester Honey Company, said last week: “We’ve been called out for about 40 swarms, bees prefer to swarm on a hot day like they’re going to get caught in the rain, things are getting a bit difficult for them.

“As you know we had a good spell of warm sunny weather and that’s why I think the hives kept swarming over and over again.”
