A Spirit Airlines passenger was furious when she tried to sit in the front row (an experience she paid extra for) only to find someone else sitting there.
‘I’m getting on the plane last today… someone takes my seat 1A so I show the flight attendant (my boarding pass)’ Instagram user @barbzinthecity wrote in Threads on Tuesday.
She said it was obvious the girl who stole her seat was with her friend, who had booked an adjacent seat, but the seat stealer “claims she doesn’t know where her boarding pass or seat is.”
At the time, @barbzinthecity said a flight attendant offered to find the woman’s seat, when she suddenly seemed to remember where she was supposed to sit.
“She’s like, ‘Oh, I’m in 18B, she can take my seat!'” the Instagram user wrote, clearly horrified by the woman’s suggestion.

“Mrs. Audacity, it’s in process, but you need to go to your seat, I’ll take mine! It’s like blaming your (girlfriend) for not booking you a date with her because I know I can’t look that good or that dumb.”
Many others who commented on the post agreed with his decision and criticized the stranger for trying to change a business class seat to an economy class seat.
“I’m with you,” wrote @travasatx.
“Maybe if they did it in a respectful way, but if they choose to be disrespectful, then yeah, I bet your ass I’ll make you move your privileged ass back to your seat.”
Another Instagram user wrote that it was “convenient” that she “lost” her boarding pass from the moment she scanned it at the gate to the moment she got comfortable in the front row.
“To think you wouldn’t have a problem or would be gullible enough to upgrade from business class to economy when you clearly paid the cost of your seat? The audacity of people these days baffles me.”
She said a woman was sitting in the seat she reserved and had the audacity to offer her a seat in Economy.
Meanwhile, a third Instagram user suggested that the two friends “should have taken (a) seat in row 18 and just switched with the person in the original seat in row 18 so they could sit together.”
“I guarantee you that (if that person had been alone) he would have moved to row 1,” he wrote.
But @jd_hh said it should have been the flight attendants’ responsibility to keep the peace.
“As this is a matter of flight safety, you are not permitted to sit in seat 18B,” she wrote. “The flight attendant MUST maintain order and remove the person from seat 1A for you.
“Just stand firm and don’t lose your position,” he suggested.
It looks like @barbzinthecity took her advice, as she posted a photo from the front row just minutes after her first post.
“You don’t fly Spirit Airlines… well, I do… Me, the big front seat!” She wrote.
‘And later this month, they’ll include Wi-Fi, adult beverages and handbags for a truly first-class experience.
“It was a very elegant and very modest experience,” she described the experience.
Spirit Airlines is offering four ticket tiers through August 27
The budget airline announced late last month that it would offer bundles for its higher-priced tickets in an effort to boost revenue.
The “Go Big” tickets that @barbzinthecity apparently purchased include a spot in one of the airline’s Big Front Seats, and come with free Wi-Fi, one checked bag, one carry-on, and “unlimited” snacks and drinks. according to CNBC.
The next level down are ‘Go Comfy’ tickets, which offer travelers a seat with standard legroom but a blocked middle seat for additional space.
It also includes an advance boarding time, a snack, a non-alcoholic beverage, checked baggage and carry-on baggage, while ‘Go Savvy’ tickets include either checked baggage or carry-on baggage.
Standard ‘Go’ tickets include one seat only, with charges for checked baggage, carry-on baggage, seat selection, Wi-Fi and refreshments.
Four-tier tickets are available on Spirit Airlines flights through August 27.
