A group of Los Angeles jail officers were watching “sexually explicit” videos when they failed to notice that an inmate had hung a noose in his cell, a new report reveals.

The eight Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were caught viewing pornography during an inspection at the Men’s Central Jail last month.

Commission inspectors Haley Broder and Eric Miller saw an “obvious” noose hanging from the ceiling of a cell in the high-security unit, which a jailer had allegedly overlooked and ignored during a security check, the inspection report state.

Broder and Miller notified officers about the “self-made noose” and the group allegedly said they would check the cell later, but instead they “just sat there watching the video on TV.”

The pair completed their inspections and Miller returned to the office 30 minutes later, where he found jailers still watching the video, according to the report.

Only when Broder entered did the officers “hastily remove the video from the screen.”

Eight Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were caught viewing pornography during an inspection at the Men’s Central Jail last month, an inspection report states.

“To me it looked like the beginning of an Onlyfans video or something,” Miller said. Los Angeles Times.

‘They were women in their underwear, and they certainly didn’t look like they were going to put on more clothes. “It looked like they were going to be taken away.”

The report states that commissioners had to make several requests before one of the officers reluctantly searched the cell, ripped off the rope and threw it on the ground outside the cell.

“Although it was unlikely to support the weight of the imprisoned person, the noose was obvious to anyone looking inside the cell,” the report states.

The commissioners spoke with the inmate who hung the rope and, according to the inspection report, he confirmed that he had suicidal ideas.

It is alleged that when an officer was informed that the inmate needed additional mental health support, the jailer “ignored the request.”

Miller called the “degree of callousness” exhibited by the officers “horrible” and asked “what’s the purpose of the security check if they’re not actually taking any action?”

Broder claimed the incident was representative of the “continued neglect and poor conditions” he has seen inside the facility.

‘People said they were hungry. We saw people with giant open wounds. Garbage was everywhere, there was so much garbage. Smells. “There are fires,” he told the newspaper about the state of the prison. “And it seems that in general there is a genuine lack of interest in changing that situation.”

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reportedly addressed several of the concerns outlined in the inspection report and launched an investigation into the eight deputies who were allegedly caught viewing pornography.

‘When the Department became aware of the allegations in early May, we immediately launched an investigation into the claims, which is ongoing. ‘The Custody Division has also notified the Department’s Admission Specialist Unit which reviews complaints of any policy equality breaches by staff,’ the department said in a statement to DailyMail.com.

‘The Department investigates all allegations of misconduct and expects its staff to carry out their responsibilities in a professional manner in accordance with Department policy. When violations of policies and procedures are discovered, staff must be held accountable.’
