A 3.2 magnitude earthquake has struck New South Wales for the second time in less than a week.
The quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres in Gunning at 2.40am on Thursday.
Geoscience Australia received 39 felt reports.
One resident described feeling a ‘thud and a boom.’
This is the second earthquake to hit the state this week following a magnitude 3.0 quake recorded in Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter region at 3.27pm on Monday.
The quake struck at a depth of one kilometre below its epicentre, creating shock waves that were felt by locals.
More than a dozen residents reported feeling a tremor and 22 people sent a report to Geoscience Australia.
Towns including Muswellbrook, Denman and Aberdeen may have felt light tremors.
Others further from the epicentre, such as Scone, Singleton Heights, Branxton and Cessnock, would probably not have felt anything.
