An Australian retailer shared the 12 things customers do that she just can’t stand. Tamika Alicia (pictured), from South Australia, has criticized customers who lack ‘common sense’, crack jokes and complain about price or want products for free. “It amazes me how many people lack general knowledge,” said the 19-year-old. The first thing she has is that “common sense is not common” when it comes to her clients. She complained that they would walk into the store and ask “the most stupid questions” or ask about something right in front of them because they were “inattentive”.

The second thing that bothers her is that shoppers don’t go to the register she works at. She explained that her store has two registers apart, and customers often go to the store where there is no one there instead of coming to the store where you are waiting. Tamika also said that it is frustrating for retail workers when customers say they will pay with card and then cash. She explained that the point of sale in her store is very slow and freezes, so changing customers’ minds in the middle of a sale is annoying. Tamika’s personal favorite that “really gets on her nerves” is when she asks a customer if they want a bag and they say “if you have one.” “Like no, I don’t actually have anything, I was just asking for fun,” she joked.

Another annoying habit is when the product is not checked and customers make fun that it should be free. Big pets hate it when customers ask for a sample of “everything in the store” when the store is just trying out their new products. “No, I’m not going to take it off the wall just for you to try on, so how about buying it?” it snapped. One thing that’s really frustrating for retail workers, Tamika said, is when shoppers come into the store at the last minute. Between 4 and 5 in the morning we have no customers and then they will try to come in at 4:59 in the evening. You’ve been out all day and want to come in at the last minute. She also hates it when customers shake the door to see if the store is open after the staff has closed. She said: “I will not open it for you, you will not enter.” The retailer said another thing customers often fail to read signs.

She explained that shoppers ask the price of something when there is a price list “right in front of them”. “Oh my God, read! Open your eyes please,” she said. One of Tamika’s “personal favorites” is when workers greet a customer and reply rudely “I’m just looking.” No need to be so aggressive, just say hello. She said it’s okay. She said she also gets annoyed when she goes to another store in her work uniform and shoppers ask her if she works there. Her final pet peeve is when shoppers say “it’s cheaper at the supermarket.” I don’t really care, go there, no It’s okay. “I don’t control the prices, I’m sorry,” said Tamika. Many retail workers wholeheartedly agree with her point of view. “Everything you said is very relatable,” said one woman. One worker said she also hates it when customers ask about the price listed on the sign. “People are illiterate,” agreed Tamika.
