Melanie Frieh, 26, of Naperville, Illinois, and her friends were preparing an outdoor feast during a vacation in the woods when two bears arrived unexpectedly.
After the group sat on the first-floor balcony, they filmed footage of the bears nudging the grill open before devouring the meat burgers.
Meanwhile, after puncturing a can of Diet Coke, they washed it all down with the soft drink.
Melanie said she was stunned by the interaction, explaining: “My friends and I were on our annual friends vacation and our Airbnb told us it was bear season and to be careful.”

“We were grilling burgers on Saturday and saw bears coming towards us.”
The medical officer was shocked to see that the bears were heading towards his group and tried to make noise to scare them away.
She said: “We started shouting, banging pots and pans and trying our best to scare them, but they just weren’t phased.”
“The grill was turned off quickly and we grabbed the burgers that had been cooked and ran inside because we were so scared.”
As they got closer, the 26-year-old and her friends turned off the gas and ran to a first-floor balcony to film the footage.
One of the bears can be seen pushing the lid closed with its nose, before lifting the lid with its right paw, revealing 10 juicy, uncooked patties on the grill.
The bear is joined by another, and between them they devour the burgers – and also enjoy a Diet Coke, managing to pierce the can and drink the soda.
She said: “Seconds after (we escaped) the bear approached the grill, took the remaining ten uncooked burgers and ate them all.

The video was released days after footage was captured as a black bear recently munched on platters of enchiladas and tacos at the Chipinque Ecological Park in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León.
The viral TikTok video, which has gained more than 6 million views since it was posted Monday evening, shows how a woman kept calm and protected a boy.
The bear approached the boy’s head and treated himself to each of the servings as he stood atop the picnic table.
Surprisingly, the family was unhurt during the incident and left the bear in the woods after the face-off.
The four-legged creature didn’t seem to have a full stomach after nearly two minutes of eating traditional Mexican food.
He skipped several glasses, knocked over a bottle before crossing the table looking for more glasses while a petrified young girl remained motionless.
The bear then removed itself from the table and walked towards an empty tray in search of more food while one of the family members continued to film from a distance.
No family members were injured in the incident, but they gained a story to tell for the rest of their lives.

The incident comes four months after a black bear crashed at a party in San Pedro Garza García and checked out several of the options available on the buffet table before settling for one of the main courses under surprised eyes and laughing caterers.
In October 2022, another black bear interrupted Ricardo Morales’ proposal to his girlfriend Cecilia Canabal in a restaurant in the Chipinque Ecological Park.
Morales told DailyMail.com at the time that several people around them asked him and Canabal to stay calm as the bear walked across the rose-covered ground.
“Before the bear came, we listened to the gardeners and the people at the hotel and restaurant, they told us not to be afraid,” Morales said.
“We looked over there and obviously saw a black shadow. And this shadow was getting closer to us.
According to a study conducted by the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, the state is home to at least 38 black bears.
The Mexican Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has recognized that the animal is an endangered species because parts of its habitat corridor have been urbanized over the years.
Officials at the Chipinque Ecological Park have posted signs warning people what to do if they encounter bears.
Visitors are asked not to approach them or disturb them. They are also advised to keep food out of reach of bears and not to leave trash nearby.
“Do not feed them or throw food at them, and please do not hit them,” the agency warns.
