Rare mysterious beast is spotted in Welsh towns as animal rescuers hatch a plan to capture it
- Animal rescuers come up with a plan after a mysterious beast is spotted in Welsh towns
A rare animal has been spotted in Welsh towns.
Animal rescuers plot to capture the creature, which they believe may have escaped its owner after being kept privately as an exotic pet.
The black-colored creature – known as a silver fox – was spotted by several shocked onlookers in Barry, South Wales.
Hayley De Ronde, who runs the website blackfoxes.co.uk, said owning and breeding the creatures should be regulated.
She said all sightings should be reported and urged witnesses not to approach the animals.

The silver fox is believed to be the same animal that escaped in 2021 and was spotted outside the city’s Asda supermarket
She said: “While some of these sightings will be of native wild foxes, some of the animals seen are those of escaped exotic pets that need to be located and returned home.”
The silver fox is believed to be the same animal that escaped in 2021 and was spotted outside the city’s Asda supermarket, and was one of two free-roaming animals in 2018.
The animals are a subspecies of North American red foxes and have large bushy tails.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has asked anyone who sees the fox to contact the animal care team.

Neighbors in Barry called on the owner to better control the creatures to prevent them from getting loose.
One of them said, “It’s probably sick to death living in a cage as someone’s pet.”
Another added: “Why does it keep coming out. Must be unhappy in his environment.’
A third said, “The owner needs to figure it out – whoever you are!”
The Vale Council zookeeper is currently looking for the black fox and anyone who has seen him is asked to contact them so that he can be safely captured.
