A private investigator has shared how easy it is for someone to discover your private data and what to do to protect yourself.
Josh Witte, from Utah, first entered the investigation business after interning and learning about financial intelligence and money laundering operations.
With work experience completed, the 26-year-old decided to start his own IP company and is taking to social media to share his tips and tricks with others.
Now, he has shared how easy it is to discover private information and what investigators look for to find your personal data.
“Private investigators love tracking usernames and emails that you reuse across multiple platforms,” Josh said.

“We are also on the lookout for traffic tickets or other simple citations that are public and may tell us where you have been recently.”
And they even watch you when you buy a house, he added:
“When you purchase real estate, we search titles and deeds online to see if you own the house, live there, or both,” the detective explained.
“We use corporate and LLC filings to track funds when people try to hide their assets behind a business name.”
And of course, private investigators can also find you through social media.
“We regularly review social media profiles and know that you may have two profiles to confuse people looking for you,” he said.
‘That’s why I also track the social media profiles of older members of your family, who are less likely to use privacy controls.
‘If you register your email or phone number on a social media platform, it will often be much easier to find your accounts. But Josh has shared what he can do now to protect himself.
He said: “It can be very difficult to make sure you cover all your tracks.” But making sure you keep track of your privacy settings and are aware of your public profile will influence how easily you will be found.

‘It’s also important to make sure you avoid getting into trouble. Court records and press releases are public in most places. Keep your head down. Don’t draw attention to yourself.’

He said: ‘Private investigators don’t have to tell the truth. They can generally lie to obtain information, with some restrictions.
‘Remember that anything you file with the government could be obtained by a private investigator, depending on the circumstances.
And that everything you do on the Internet leaves a trace that someone can follow and locate you. It is important to be cautious and keep your information secure.’
