A prison officer 'filmed having sex with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth' insists she 'doesn't know my side of the story' as she faces trial on charges of misconduct in public office

A prison officer who was filmed having sex with an inmate in a cell at Wandsworth jail has broken her silence and insisted people do not know her side of the story, while the whole incident left her “heartbroken”.

Linda De Sousa Abreu revealed in a video on social media that there were also attempts by other people to benefit financially from her “misfortune” and accused the media of “sensationalizing” the shocking video that went viral.

She said: ‘I hope you can understand that this is going to be an awkward and difficult conversation to have. I just thought I really needed to come here and clear a lot of things up.

‘The first thing is that many fake profiles of mine have appeared that have been taking advantage of my misfortune.

“The scandal that has somehow gotten everyone involved. I haven’t managed to monetize a single bit. This is my only social media platform and I just activated it.”

She added: ‘So if you come across fake profiles of me, asking for money, please don’t fall for it. There have been many fake GoFundMes and OnlyFans accounts of me that are not me and I apologise if you have fallen for it.

‘Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, I apologize.

‘But I really want to clarify that this is my only social media account and I just got back.

‘I thought it was very important for me to address this very unpleasant issue of OnlyFans creators impersonating me and recreating the scenario of said scandal in which I am involved.’

Sounding emotional and angry, Ms De Sousa Abreu added in the video posted on Instagram: ‘It is very, very disgusting that you guys advertise or monetize like me for OF content.

‘It interferes with my judgment, but it’s also incredibly unpleasant.

‘Please, if you are an OF creator, refrain from tagging said prison. We all know the name of the prison.

‘Please refrain from tagging HMP Wandsworth in your stupid videos. There are other prisons in the world, you don’t have to impersonate me.’

Staring intently into the camera, he insisted: ‘Lastly, I wanted to say to everyone who doesn’t know my side of the story.

‘The media has a great way of taking a narrative and distorting it for their own benefit.

‘The media loves to make any story salacious and sensational and they sensationalize everything.

“You don’t know my side of the story and we’ll leave it at that for now.”

As Ms. De Sousa Abreu appeared to be finishing her statement, she decided to continue and criticised people she thought were friends who “supported” her.

She fumed: “Actually, while I’m here, this needs to be addressed too. You don’t know who’s got you, who your real friends are until the shit hits the fan.

‘Honestly, family, friends, you have to choose them very, very carefully.

‘Obviously everyone knows that my mobile number was leaked, there have been people acting behind my back.

‘The media have been literally following me everywhere, I can’t even go to Greggs or Primark without having my photo taken, it’s so annoying.’

She cried: ‘A lot of times it’s people you thought had your back and they just don’t.

“That’s been really heartbreaking. On top of all of this, on top of everything, that’s also been really heartbreaking.

‘So that’s just a tip for everyone to be very careful about who they’re around.’

Ms De Sousa Abreu was charged with misconduct and appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court earlier this month.

The shocking clip shows the 30-year-old woman wearing a uniform and begins with her apparently performing a sexual act on an unidentified prisoner at the Category B jail in south-west London.

In the footage, which MailOnline said was recent, she appears to be seen having sex with the inmate while her cellmate films her on a mobile phone. The cell footage shows a television and piles of clothes piled on a bunk bed.

A friend who is smoking while filming says: “Guys, we made history, this is what I tell you.”

The prison officer’s radio, left on a side table, crackles constantly and the voices of his colleagues on other channels can be heard above the din of prisoners on the landing who are oblivious to what is happening in the cell.

At one point, someone appears to be trying to enter the cell, and the man filming can be heard saying to the person on the other side of the door: “Give me a minute, a second.”

The prisoner filming tells his friend to continue and then turns the camera around for a moment and, smiling, says: “This is how we behave in Wandsworth.”

He then tells his friend, whom he has sex with: “You know you’re a gangster, right?”

After the video went viral, MailOnline revealed the woman in the video was Ms De Sousa Abreu, who is believed to have recently quit her job as a prison officer at the south London jail following the scandal.
