A police officer has been sacked from the force after throwing a projectile in the direction of NRL chief referee Ashley Klein following a football match in Sydney.
The man’s father, a senior police officer, remains under investigation over the incident.
The paroled officer was dismissed following an investigation into the conduct of two off-duty officers following an incident at the NRL round seven clash between Sydney Roosters and Melbourne Storm at Allianz Stadium in April.
“An infringement notice has been issued to an officer following an investigation into an incident involving two off-duty police officers on Thursday, April 18, at a football match at Moore Park,” a police spokeswoman said. News Corporation.

The father and son, as well as an unnamed third person, were also banned from attending matches or sporting events at Venues NSW grounds for at least two years.
It includes venues such as Allianz Stadium, Sydney Cricket Ground, Accor Stadium and CommBank Stadium.
Additionally, the NRL has issued ban notices that will prevent men from attending any football matches across Australia.
A spokesperson for Venues NSW confirmed in May that the trio had been suspended for “offensive behaviour”.
On 18 April, a projectile was thrown towards the match officials as they were leaving the field following Melbourne’s 18-12 victory.
Klein and the two touch judges were not hit by any of the objects.
And on April 11 at Newcastle’s McDonald Jones Stadium, an object was also thrown at NRL officials on match day but narrowly missed its intended targets.
