A paedophile who kidnapped and sexually abused a nine-year-old girl in a supermarket has died in a car crash while fleeing from police.
Wayne Noel, 64, died Friday at New York Presbyterian-Queens after running a stop sign when police tried to stop him around 12:30 p.m.
She was the subject of an 18-hour manhunt after the girl was abducted from a Key Foods store in Queens Village around 7:20 p.m. Thursday, police confirmed.
The girl was there with her grandmother, who left her alone for a few minutes to go to the bathroom, which was all the time Noel needed to attack.
Wayne Noel, 64, was the subject of an 18-hour manhunt by a pedophile who pulled a nine-year-old girl out of a Key Foods in Queens, New York, by her hair and sexually assaulted her twice.
Noel approached her and demanded that she stand in front of me, then grabbed her by the hair, dragged her out of the supermarket and pushed her into his car.
He drove the gray Honda about seven blocks where he sexually assaulted her until a good Samaritan who was passing by tried to stop him.
Before the girl could be rescued, Noel drove back to Key Foods, where he sexually assaulted her a second time, police said.
Then Noel abandoned her on the street and left.
The NYPD tasked all detectives in the area to find the rapist and identified Noel from Key Foods CCTV footage of the kidnapping.
Noel died Friday at New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Queens after running a stop sign when police tried to pull him over and colliding broadside with the red pickup truck.
Dramatic footage showed him crashing broadside into a red SUV heading north on 212th Street, injuring both him and the other driver.
The driver of the red SUV was also injured but is believed to have survived.
Deputy Commissioner for Operations Kaz Daughtry called the kidnapper “the epitome of evil” on Thursday night and vowed to hunt him down.
“It is almost unimaginable that such evil could take hold in a city we call home. The New York Police Department will not rest until this demon is locked behind iron bars,” he said.
Noel’s car was eventually located on 90th Avenue in Queens and police attempted to pull him over, but he refused and sped through a stop sign.

Police inspect the scene of the accident where Noel died
Police released this image of the grey Honda as the search for Noel intensified.
The child molester has a lengthy criminal record with four prior arrests, the most recent an eerily similar robbery of a woman in 2022.
Police said Noel approached her on Queens Boulevard and threatened her with a knife, then forced her into the same gray Honda.
Fortunately, she managed to escape from the vehicle and was not attacked.
Police said Noel may work for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, but this has not yet been confirmed.
