After a six-year hiatus, French author Fred Vargas, the creator of Jean-Baptiste Adamsberg, returns with a new novel entitled “Sur la Dal” (“On the rock painting”), the book’s publisher announced Tuesday.
Flammarion will release the tenth book in the Fred Vargas series on May 17.
In the new novel, the detective goes to Brittany in western France, where a gamekeeper is murdered, and the “Louviec case” (after a fictitious village) takes on unexpected proportions.
And the “Flamarion” house indicated that Vargas is the author of “more than fifteen detective novels, translated in 22 countries, and based on television and cinematic works.”
The French novelist’s latest book, “Can Sur la Rocluse,” was published in 2017.
Meanwhile, Vargas, who specializes in animal archeology, published two articles on climate change in 2019 and 2022.
