NASCAR driver Josh Berry suffered a life-threatening accident at the Coke Sugar Zero 400 when his car left the track before flipping over and crashing into the fence.
The 33-year-old was in good position for a podium finish at Daytona before the crash occurred just two laps from the end on Saturday night.
Berry was following Austin Cindric at the time.
According to NASCAR’s official X account, Berry has been “evaluated and released from the infield care center.”
He even gave a thumbs-up gesture to the crowd after getting out of his car.
Josh Berry survived a life-threatening car crash at the Coke Sugar Zero 400 at Daytona on Saturday.
He was in second place with just two laps to go when his car was hit by Austin Cendric.
Berry, 33, was stranded for a time after his race car completely rolled over on the track.
NBC footage shows Berry’s car derailing after being hit by Cindric’s car.
Cindric then seized the opportunity to extend his lead as Berry and his car followed in the wake of the accident.
However, it was Harrison Button who declared the winner of this weekend’s race.
Kyle Busch finished second while Christopher Bell came in third.
Cendric eventually placed 18th out of the 40 drivers competing.
Several NASCAR fans demanded that Cendric face punishment for derailing Berry.
“Cindric deserves to be banned,” said one user on X.
Berry surprisingly emerged from the crash unscathed and gave a thumbs up when he was checked out.
“Cindric should be banned for life. He has no talent,” wrote another person.
“Cindric is a very dangerous driver. There’s no reason for him to be racing in the Cup like that,” another person shared.
“Cindric is lucky he didn’t go crazy,” another user noted.
Earlier this month, Austin Dillon made headlines after hitting fellow NASCAR star Joey Logano in Turn 4 on the final lap at Richmond Raceway.
Logano finished first in the race (his first win in two years), although Logan called him a “piece of shit” after the race.
