At a time when many are looking forward to the next new part of the Tomb Raider series that Crystal Dynamics Studio is working on. Today a new game in the series appeared on the US ratings site ESRB Not previously announced.
The game that appeared on the aforementioned ratings website is The Tomb Raider Collection for Nintendo Switch, and it may refer to a group of games that were released earlier and is not a completely new game.
The use of the word “Collection” is a clear indication that the new game will collect some of the titles of the series that were previously released, while the description of the game stated in the following location: “A collection of 3/4-overhead action-adventure games.” And with its “T” rating for teens, the group may be two of the three that have hit the ground running lately.
All three parts of the series, which are remakes of the series, received an age rating of M, which is close to a T rating. We also do not exclude the Guardian of Light and Temple of Osiris, two subtitles of the Tomb Raider series that were available digitally.
In any case, the appearance of the game in the ESRP platform is an indication of the imminent disclosure of this game or group, which we expect to take place in the next few days.
Last September, Crystal Dynamics announced today that it had acquired the rights to the Tomb Raider title and a number of other titles that it was working on while it was under the umbrella of Square Enix before Embracer could acquire it.
It is noteworthy that after Embracer announced the acquisition of Square Enix Western studios, which include Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal, in a deal worth $300 million.
Since then, Crystal Dynamics has already announced that a new Tomb Raider game is currently under development using Unreal Engine 5, and the developer has commented that this step comes in order to provide a high-quality cinematic experience that fans of the series and the character of Lara Croft deserve.
