A mother pushing her baby in a stroller was attacked by a pack of dogs in Melbourne.

The woman was rushed to hospital by paramedics after scaring away the animals and people rushed to her aid after hearing her screams.

“There was blood everywhere – legs, ankles, arms, elbows, hands. It was not something you want to see on a Friday afternoon,” Mark Jackson told 7News.

The seriously injured woman is now recovering at the Alfred Hospital.

Locals say the same dogs roam freely around Sunbury and claim they were the animals that attacked a 71-year-old woman nearby on Thursday.

She was also seriously injured when three dogs pounced on her and bit her on the face, legs and back.

Two men who helped the elderly woman suffered minor injuries.

Police thought council rangers had seized the dogs after Thursday’s attack, but Hume Council said they could not do so because they did not have a court order to do so.

“Hume Council is aware of the dog attack that occurred in Sunbury,” said council chief executive Sheena Frost.

‘Council officers are actively working with Victoria Police on this matter and the council is unable to comment further at this time.

‘All dogs have been removed from the premises.

“Our thoughts are with those injured and we wish them a speedy and full recovery.”
