lA mother has lost almost half her body weight – after feeling embarrassed by a holiday photo that made her look bigger than a caravan park mascot GORILLA
Nicolee McKeown, 33, from Heysham, Lancashire, saw the photo with ‘Greedy the Gorilla’ so red that she dropped a whopping 11 stone in less than a year.
She took her family to Haven Primrose Valley Holiday Park in Filey, North Yorkshire, in May 2018, when she was a size 32, with a 24-stone, nine-pound scale.
Her children Teddie, seven, and Maisie, five, desperately wanted a photo of the resort’s mascot, and Nicolee reluctantly agreed.

But when she saw the snaps, the offended hospital ward clerk was inspired to drop the five takeaways a week she used to do and start eating healthy.
And last month, she returned to the seaside resort and couldn’t wait to pose next to the mascots to show off her new slender figure.
Nicolee said, “I was so embarrassed that I was bigger than Greedy the gorilla. I didn’t want my photo taken by anyone, but my kids insisted on it.
“I felt so self-conscious and felt like I had hit rock bottom, but the only way from there was up.”

Nicolee said that after the tragic death of a family member who suffered a stroke at the age of 39, she decided it was time to make a change, as her weight put her at risk.
She had always been overweight, but recognized how difficult it was for the family and did not want to cause the same trauma to her young children.
She joined Slimming World in April 2019, four months after the tragedy hit, with the goal of losing enough weight to fit size 18 clothing.
But, remarkably, she lost a whopping 10 stones in just 49 weeks without exercising, after replacing a diet of five takeaways a week with healthier foods.
She swapped Chinese takeaways for home-cooked meals and immediately saw a change on the scales as well as her confidence.
The mother of two said, “I knew I was at risk for a stroke because I was so heavy.
‘I didn’t want to experience the destruction of my family, I didn’t want to leave my children without a mother.
‘My diet was awful, I was stressed and ate five takeaways a week. I had an unhealthy relationship with food, I was depressed, but now I feel a million times better. ‘
She said her newfound agility has allowed her to spend more time with her kids, which she says is the “ most important thing. ”
Nicolee has been able to enjoy days out at trampoline parks where she was previously unable to participate due to weight restrictions.
She said, “Spending time with my kids is so important to me, it’s nice to be able to do so much more with them.

‘Simple things like being able to go to the trampoline parks, and I couldn’t do that because there was a maximum weight.
‘I used to have to stand on the side, which was so awful.
‘I once got stuck in a slide in soft play, it’s not nice to let other people watch you. It was embarrassing and a terrible feeling. ‘
Nicolee hopes her story will encourage other people who feel they have hit rock bottom to make a change in their lives.
She said, “I’d never let anyone take a picture of me before. But now I feel great. All it took was a few changes to make a huge difference. ‘
