A young mother has sparked a fierce debate among Oreo cookie lovers after revealing hidden cookies at the bottom of a container of the brand’s iconic ice cream.

American mother Lena claimed that Oreo cookies can be found hidden at the bottom of the popular blue containers.

Lena shared the sweet secret in a very convincing TikTok video that’s been viewed more than seven million times, but some Oreo fans weren’t convinced.

In the clip, Lena is seen scooping all of the ice cream out of the container before using a knife to carefully lift off the bottom lid, revealing two Oreo cookies underneath.

“That’s why you should always check the bottom of Oreo ice cream containers,” he said.

Thousands of viewers were amazed by the video and many wondered how many cookies they had thrown away over the years.

And the official Oreo TikTok account, which has 2.1 million followers, commented: “Finally someone figured it out!”

But others were not convinced and called the video “fake” or a “marketing strategy.”

Mondelez International, the company that owns Oreos, told FEMAIL that the Australian packaging does not have a false bottom.

“The product on TikTok is not the OREO ice cream tub we have here in Australia, and we do not have OREO cookies in the base of our local tub,” the spokesperson said.

“I never knew this about Oreos,” one commented on the video.

‘Wait! Have I been wasting Oreos?’ said another.

A third couldn’t help but ask: Is this real?

Someone else added: “This reminds me of the hidden knife in Nutella.”

But most people laughed at the video and called it a “parody.”

“Why do you have to lie?” one asked.

“So, you’re telling me those Oreos are waterproof?” said another, as Lena washed the container after scooping out the ice cream.

“I find it hard to believe,” said another.

Others called it a clever “marketing strategy.”

Shoppers began flocking to Aldi Australia earlier this week to stock up on American chocolate, candy, snacks and sauces.

The German-owned supermarket chain launched the selection in its stores last week in the central “Special Buys” aisle.

Maraya, who runs the website ‘Stuff Mums Like’, stumbled upon the snacks and posted a series of images on Facebook.

“It’s American Food Week at Aldi! There are so many fun treats to try. It would be so fun to host an American Food Night with your kids so they can try things they’ve only seen in books and on TV,” she wrote.
