A mum has shared her ultimate hack for removing tough stains from wooden furniture – all you need is an iron and one essential household item.
The American mother was left devastated when her daughter left a hot plate on her wooden storage unit, leaving a white stain.
The discolouration was caused by condensation trapped beneath the varnish which needed to be removed.
Leaving hot dishes, such as pots from the oven or pizza boxes, on wood furniture can damage the wood’s protective finish.
“To get it off, I applied half a teaspoon of olive oil to the stain and rubbed it in with a cloth,” she revealed.
‘I then placed a tea towel over the area and patiently went back and forth with a hot iron for about ten minutes, checking every 30 seconds or so.’
He was surprised when his trick worked and revealed a shiny new table.
‘Voila! It slowly came off!’ he exclaimed.

Thousands of people were shocked by the mother’s simple trick.
“This is fantastic!” said one father. “My 21-year-old son put a hot pan of macaroni and cheese on an antique wooden kitchen table he had bought at an estate sale a week earlier. I told him it was no big deal, smiled, and then cried when I went to bed that night.”
Another Sadi: “You can also use furniture polish! I discovered this when I put a hot pan on the kitchen table. You just rub it on and it disappears.”
Home and Away star Ada Nicodemou previously revealed her kitchen hack for spotless cutlery – and all you need is one unlikely household essential.
Ada is also annoyed by her stainless steel cutlery turning brown in the dishwasher, as is the case for many Australians.
“You know when you take things out of the dishwasher and they’re rusty and you can’t get them out?” she asked in a video before pointing to one of her knives with brown stains.
He recently discovered a new trick using aluminum foil.
‘Get some aluminum foil, drag it around and rub the ball over the stain,’ he advised, while doing the same with his knife.
Ada was surprised when the mark effortlessly disappeared, leaving her with a shiny piece of cutlery.
“This is amazing, I’m doing all the cooking!” Ada enthused.

According to Australian property maintenance company Fantastic Services, aluminum foil has no cleaning properties, but it works well to shine up utensils and even oven racks.
Some others revealed other surprising uses for this kitchen essential.
“I use aluminum foil to sharpen my scissors and garden pruning shears!” shared one.
“This is also how I clean my car rims before polishing them,” said another.
“It’s also great for cleaning the bottom of pots and pans,” one woman added.
“Steel wool does the same thing,” wrote another.
