A modest three-bedroom home has gone on sale for £575,000 – but one room has people shocked.
At first glance, the semi-detached property in St Albans, Hertfordshire, appears to be a typical family home.
Comprising three bedrooms and one bathroom, a garage and conservatory, and located just a couple of miles from the city centre, the property is in many ways highly desirable.
But people online were left baffled by a “very unusual” room in Frost’s Estate Agents’ listing on Rightmove, which stands in stark contrast to the otherwise perfectly normal house.
Hidden among snapshots of a perfectly adequate bedroom and bathroom lies a strange room completely overrun by penguins.

Hidden between snapshots of a perfectly adequate bedroom and bathroom is a bizarre room completely overrun by penguins.
The shelves are lined with penguin models, while the room also features penguin-shaped tableware, pictures on the walls and a curtain over the curtains.
Meanwhile, a colony of stuffed penguins dominate one corner, all staring at a giant stuffed penguin in front of them.
Even the walls are painted blue to represent the sea, while almost every type of flightless bird can be found in the room.
On TikTok, the page @horroresdelavivienda She reacted with surprise to the amazing room and exclaimed: “Oh my God, I’ve never seen so many penguins in my entire life. This is so special.”
‘Imagine going to your friend’s house for dinner, going to the guest room to take a nap, and you’ll see that!
‘Imagine sleeping in that room and all those eyes looking at you, I don’t know if I could do it.’
While many were blown away by the penguin room, others declared they absolutely “loved” the concept.
People commented: ‘575k seems like a lot, but if he comes with the Penguins, it’s a steal’;
The rest of the three-bedroom property looked normal and very modest.
On TikTok, the @housinghorrors page reacted with shock to the surprising room, exclaiming: ‘Oh my god I’ve never seen so many penguins in my entire life.’
While many were blown away by the penguin room, others declared they absolutely “loved” the concept.
‘Once upon a time there was a person who said that he really liked penguins and that every Christmas and birthday he received penguin things’;
“I love it when people have collections like this. It’s like you never have to think about what to get them, just make it a penguin theme and that’s it.”
‘I WOULD BUY IT JUST FOR THE PENGUIN ROOM’;
“I would only buy it if it came with penguins.”
Even Penguin Books saw an opportunity and wrote: “Okay, there’s no need to expose my house like this.”
The Penguin House is not the only unusual property to come on the market in recent months.
A Disney-themed home featuring “unhinged” decor including a massive mural of Aladdin also left people baffled earlier this month.
The house in Rhyl, North Wales, also looked modest with its affordable price tag of £179,000.
Comprising three bedrooms and one bathroom, a garage and conservatory, and located just a couple of miles from the city centre, the property is, in many ways, highly desirable.
At first glance, the semi-detached property in St Albans, Hertfordshire, appears to be a typical family home.
The property features a princess-pink bedroom, an Aladdin-themed living room, and an emerald green space that appears to have been decorated to look like Maleficent’s lair, but also contains Snow White’s mirror.
And it seems Elwy Estates, the agents selling the house, are embracing its quirky decor.
The advert, which also appeared on Zoopla, said: ‘We’ve just waved our magic wand and *Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo* has found his happily ever after!’
Focusing on unique décor choices, the real estate agents describe the property as a “charming three-bedroom home where dreams come true” and call it the “perfect place to be our guest and create lasting memories.”
Meanwhile, a three-bedroom house in leafy West London also had a unique feature: the master bedroom had an open-plan bathroom.
The bathroom, sink and toilet were not separated from the rest of the room by a wall, so they were completely visible to everyone (and presumably also in the smell of everyone).
