A model shares her account of a leopard attack that left her with facial injuries.

The incident took place in August when Jessica Leidolph modeled for a photo shoot at a rescue for former amusement animals in the Wangen region of Germany. According to , which was translated from German to English by , the leopard, a 16-year-old female named Truja, attacked her without much warning.

“I couldn’t look that fast,” she explained. “I was sitting by the tree trunk and suddenly I was on the ground. He bit my cheek, ear, head, and then again and again on my head.”

The model “screamed” and put her hands in front of her face. Finally, the leopard let go just long enough for her to “roll away”.

Leidolph, who has metal plates in her face after the attack and is unable to eat properly due to her injuries, told… image that she’s just lucky the attack wasn’t worse.

“If the leopard had hit my carotid artery, it would have been over,” she said.

Despite the ordeal, she is still an outspoken animal advocate and does not blame Truja or her owner for the situation. She said she is pleased that no request has been made to euthanize the leopard so far.

An investigation into the attack is underway.

“I wanted to stand up for these wild animals, to draw attention to the fact that once they’ve had their day, there are hardly any accommodation options for them,” explains Leidolph. “No one takes such animals.”
