A lonely California man has been left heartbroken after his cat was mauled to death by a pit bull that overpowered its owners, who then fled the grisly scene.
Devastated Tootie Pootie owner Chris Fowler said the ordeal was traumatic, and he is now demanding justice after the nine-year-old cat was devastated by a dog on Magliocco Drive in San Jose.
Fowler let her cat out of her apartment for some fresh air Saturday afternoon when a man, a girl and a large dog approached her on the street.
Footage showed the dog leaping forward and overpowering the girl who was holding her leash.
Fowler told KRON: ‘I don’t have a family. She has been through some of the hardest parts of my life and she meant the world to me.
‘She was my everything. She was all she had. She is traumatizing.
‘She was so sweet and innocent. It’s unfair the way she died. I miss her.

Footage showed that none of the dog owners were able to free Tootie Pootie from their dog’s jaws.
The dog, believed to be a pit bull, charged at Tootie Pootie and attacked her.

It wasn’t until Fowler intervened that the cat finally broke free.
Fowler told KRON4: ‘The dog dominated the daughter and my cat was viciously attacked.
“I was also bitten in the process of trying to get my animal out of the dog’s jaws.
Speaking about the dog walker, Fowler said: “He said, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry’.” Sorry, it’s not enough. I want the pitbull owner to be held accountable and responsible for his animal’s actions.’
He said they fled the scene.
Tootie Pootie was rushed to a veterinary clinic. The cat was suffering from severe internal bleeding and broken bones from the ordeal.

Fowler said the cat was humanely euthanized at Veterinary Emergency Group.

San Jose Animal Care and Services said in a statement: ‘At this time we do not have any information regarding the owner of the dog and the dog.
“If the owner is found, he may be cited and ACS will pursue a dangerous dog hearing.”
The images have been released in an attempt to help identify the owner and the dog. Fowler said he had never seen them in the neighborhood before.
