An alleged assault in Adelaide’s south led to a man being rushed to hospital with a large knife still stuck in his hand.

Emergency crews rushed to Hamilton Rd in Aldinga Beach, south of Adelaide, about 12.40pm on Monday following reports of an assault.

South Australian Police and the South Australian Ambulance Service attended the man’s home and discovered he had a knife sticking out of his hand.

“On arrival, emergency services located a 48-year-old man at the address with a stab wound to his hand,” a South Australian Police statement said.

“He has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”

Footage from 9News shows the man being treated by paramedics as he lay on a stretcher with a large knife protruding from his hand.

Witness Jayson Haywood told 9News the man was “very lucky,” considering it “looked like a big knife.”

“From what I’ve seen and when I’ve talked to him, he seems like a good guy,” Haywood said of the victim.

“I’ve never heard or seen anything bad, other than now.”
