A 37-year-old man jumped to his death from a nine-story building at Manhattan's Fashion Institute of Technology on Sunday morning as a security guard watched helplessly, police said.

A man jumped from the roof of a nine-story building at the Manhattan Fashion Institute of Technology on Sunday morning as a security guard watched helplessly, police said.

A 37-year-old man jumped to his death from a nine-story building at Manhattan’s Fashion Institute of Technology on Sunday morning as a security guard watched helplessly, police said. (SUNNY Brochure)

The 37-year-old victim reached the roof of the building on the FIT campus at W. 27th St. and Seventh Ave. in Chelsea around 5:20 a.m. and set off an alarm in the process, police said.

When a security guard came up to investigate, the man ran to the ledge and jumped off, police said. He died on impact.

Police have not released the man’s name.
