A man was left fighting for his life after being shot twice by armed intruders.
The 31-year-old man was shot in the stomach at a home in Hillston, about 100 kilometres northwest of Griffith, at about 2.30am on Friday.
A 56-year-old woman was also inside the home in rural New South Wales when three people entered, one of them armed with a firearm.
The man was shot twice before the intruders fled.
He was treated by paramedics before being rushed to Griffith Hospital in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
The man was later flown to a metropolitan city for treatment.
New South Wales Police said an investigation has been launched.
