Three people are fighting for their lives after the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a truck on a main road.
Emergency services were called to the Riddoch Highway, south of Naracoorte, near the South Australian-Victoria border, at around 9.30am on Thursday after reports of a serious collision.
Three passengers in the car suffered “life-threatening injuries” and were rushed to hospital, South Australia Police said in a statement.
The truck driver was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police have closed the road between Edenhope and Wrattonbully Roads while investigators and officers from the Heavy Vehicle Enforcement Section travel to the scene.
Detours have been put in place around the motorway, which is expected to remain restricted to the public for “several more hours”.
Travelers have been urged to avoid the area.
More to come.
