Thrifty Australian shoppers have discovered an “epic meat warehouse” offering premium cuts at lower prices.
United Meat Co in Strathfield, New South Wales, is gaining a reputation for its range of affordable, high-quality, bulk meat – something that is firmly in demand as the cost of living soars.
Dozens of videos showing the mammoth warehouse sales, which take place weekly on Saturdays, have gone viral in recent weeks as more shoppers try it for themselves.
Those who enjoy Korean barbecue were among the fans, with many claiming that thinly sliced wagyu is an unbeatable value.
“I’m saving a lot of money,” said one woman.
“I go here once a month and it’s amazing,” said another.
“The marbling on that meat is crazy,” one man said in the video.
Another woman said she buys the meat in bulk and freezes it to make the most of each visit.
In-the-know thrifty Australian shoppers have discovered an ‘epic meat warehouse’ offering premium cuts at low prices.
But other people were not so convinced about the meat market.
“I’ve been there, same price as Woolies,” one man said.
“It’s still too expensive for us,” said another. But the United Meat Co team was quick to comment.
“It’s the same price as Woolies, but much higher quality,” they said.
The company is known as one of Sydney’s largest wagyu wholesalers.
Customers are advised to bring a jacket when heading to the warehouse, as “it’s like walking into a giant refrigerator.”
In a video, warehouse staff claimed that their meat costs on average a quarter of the price of meat sold in retail establishments.
