A high-flying executive died after falling over the edge of a cliff during a skiing holiday in the French Alps, an inquest heard.
Simon Helliwell, former executive vice president of the publisher Elsevier, 52, suffered “multiple injuries” after the accident on January 27.
I had been skiing the Tour de Roc d’Enfer route, which offers panoramic views for skiers and cyclists.
Berkshire area coroner Hannah Godfrey concluded in a written inquest that Mr Helliwell deceased of injuries suffered during a fall in Epagny Metz Tessy.
It had begun investigating on February 13 but, after a public inquiry was opened on April 9, it was decided the investigation could be concluded in writing.

An inquest may be concluded in writing if the coroner considers that there is no real possibility of disagreement as to the determinations or findings of the inquest and that no public interest would be served by a hearing.
Helliwell previously served as executive vice president of Human Resources at Elsevier, the scientific publishing giant.
In December 2022, Helliwell was appointed Chief People Officer of Silverstream Technologies, a market leader in air lubrication technology for the global shipping industry.
He was married to Rachel Helliwell, a magistrate, and the couple lived in the Caversham area of Reading, Berkshire.

“He is much loved and will always be remembered.”
Berkshire area coroner Hannah Godfrey concluded at a written inquest that Helliwell died from injuries sustained in the fall at Epagny Metz Tessy.
One supporter wrote: “Very saddened to hear the news of Simon’s passing. We worked closely together during our time at Elsevier and have kept in touch twice a year since.
‘He was an amazing person and someone I always wanted to talk to. Simon, I will always appreciate our deep discussions and collaborations and I hope you rest in peace, my friend.
‘We will miss you. Love, thoughts and prayers to her family during this difficult time.’
A second added: ‘Simon always gave his family good reasons to admire him. He was a son, husband and father to be immensely proud of.
‘He was a kind and generous person. He is always there as a great support for his family. She gives us all good reasons to miss her dearly.
