Louis looked every inch the same as his brother did five years earlier, sporting his family’s signature blonde hair and toothy smile.

Meanwhile, the nine-year-old wore a Torotters long-sleeved T-shirt as he posed behind the late royal for a sweet photo shoot at Balmoral last summer.

Kensington Palace today released the previously unseen snapshot of Her Majesty – taken shortly before her death.

The Princess of Wales took the photo in August – just a few weeks before Britain and the Commonwealth lost their Queen.

Happy in the Scottish Highlands she loved so dearly, the late Queen is surrounded by some of her most beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

All the children smile sweetly as they surround the Queen, who is seated among them on a tartan-clad Chesterfield sofa in her beloved home in Aberdeenshire.

Poignantly, weeks later on 8 September, Her Majesty died peacefully at Balmoral, sparking mourning in the United Kingdom and around the world.

Queen Elizabeth had eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren at the time of her death.

A similar family photo was published after the death of the Duke of Edinburgh in 2021.

Meanwhile, earlier today, the royal family paid tribute to their beloved mother, who passed away peacefully after celebrating her platinum jubilee.

They took to social media to share a photo of the monarch in action with a message that read: “Today we remember the amazing life and incredible legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, on her 97th birthday.”

Speaking in a documentary following her role as guest editor on ITV, Camilla said: ‘They’re very good pictures. She does it very naturally. We had a lot of fun doing it.’

It was so relaxing and kind to have the Duchess of Cambridge come with her cameras – she is a very good photographer. It was all very informal.

There wasn’t much hair or makeup. It was just done in the park with lots of laughs. It was a great way to do that.

Referring to one photo in particular, she added, “This is the photo I know my husband approves of.” Katherine said that if there was anything else to do, she would gladly do it.

“If I can overcome the fact by looking at myself, I think they are very nice and just what is needed for country life.”
