A grieving girlfriend reveals her son’s last words before he was stabbed to death at Melbourne’s Woodgrove shopping centre

A teenager who watched her boyfriend die in an alleged knife attack has recalled him telling her to “call an ambulance” in his harrowing final moments.

Oscar Hamilton, 16, was dropped off by his mother at Woodgrove Shopping Centre in Melton West, Melbourne, on Tuesday so he could meet up with his girlfriend, Briannan Hibbert, and several friends.

A short time later, he was allegedly stabbed by a 15-year-old boy, who has since been charged with murder.

Briannan was left traumatised after watching the alleged attack unfold on the outdoor food court outside La Porchetta in front of school holiday diners.

“The only thing he said right after he was stabbed was ‘call an ambulance’. That’s when it all became real,” she said. Nine news On Wednesday.

Frantically, Briannan called Oscar’s mother for help.

“She tried to give me advice on what to do with stab wounds,” he said.

She described the phone call to her parents as the hardest thing she had to do.

“Just hearing how distraught her mom was when I told her was really scary,” Briannan said.

“Seeing her when she arrived on the scene was really horrible.

“I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, not even my worst enemy, because it was horrible to watch,” she said.

Briannan also paid an emotional tribute to her late boyfriend.

“Oscar brought a lot of joy to everyone’s lives,” she said.

Oscar’s father, Steven Hamilton, released a statement on behalf of the family overnight.

“Today our world was shattered,” says the statement released by The age read.

‘Broken to pieces by a senseless act that cut short the life of our son and brother, Oscar.

“Her loss has left a huge void in our hearts and our grief knows no bounds. We ask for space and privacy to get through this incredibly difficult time.”

Police say Oscar and his alleged attacker knew each other but insist no links have been established with youth gangs in the western suburbs.

“It is believed there may have been an altercation between the victim and another man,” Victoria Police said.

‘The exact circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death are yet to be determined.’

It is not known whether the weapon used in the alleged stabbing has been recovered.

Police arrested a 15-year-old boy several hours after the alleged attack.

He was charged with one count of murder early Wednesday and later appeared in juvenile court today for an arraignment hearing.

The teenager sat in the dock wiping away tears during his brief court appearance.

No details of the alleged crime were read out in court.

The teenager did not request bail and will remain in custody until his appearance in January.

His lawyer told the magistrate that it was the first time the boy had been detained and that he needed to be assessed by a nurse.

Oscar’s death sparked an outpouring of tributes on social media, led by Brianna.

She created a public Facebook group to commemorate the 16-year-old’s life and remembered Oscar as a “beautiful soul who I was lucky enough to call my boyfriend.”

“It was never meant to end this way, but I guess heaven needed you more than us,” she wrote.

“No one will ever get over this. You filled everyone’s lives with so much light and joy. You never failed to bring a smile to people’s faces.

“Life will never be the same without you. My heart will always hurt knowing you’re gone.

“I will never forgive whoever did this to you. We will get you justice, don’t worry.”

“Everyone was so lucky to have you in their lives. This world was too cruel to your beautiful soul.”

Many heartbroken friends remembered Oscar as a “charming” and “well-mannered” boy.

“We will miss you Oscar. There are no words to describe how much we will miss you. You were too young to die,” one wrote.

Another friend added: “It breaks my heart to know I won’t be seeing you again, but I’m so grateful for every memory we’ve had and all the moments we’ve shared along the way. You were the best and most fun friend any of us could have asked for.”

A third wrote: “My heart broke when I found out you were no longer with us. My heart aches for your family. You didn’t deserve this at all.”

A fourth wrote: ‘Rest in peace and love sweet boy. You were the sweetest soul that ever lived. You had a gorgeous smile and a very infectious laugh. You were a people pleaser, you never liked any conflict. There are no words that can describe how much I will miss you. You never deserved what happened to you.’

Pip Ware, who met Oscar on a few occasions through her daughter, was devastated for her family.

“It’s tragic, it’s heartbreaking, I can’t even begin to imagine what these children are going through,” she told the Herald Sun.

“It’s something these kids shouldn’t have to deal with. He was a lovely, polite boy.”
