Julian Nagelsmann’s girlfriend, Lena Furzenberger, is set to quit her job at Bild following the coach’s shock sacking as Bayern Munich’s technical director last week.
The 35-year-old left his role as Bayern’s head coach last week after returning from a skiing holiday. In a brutal 61-minute meeting, he was handed the news and promptly replaced by Thomas Tuchel.
The club are one point off the top of the Bundesliga and have won all eight of their Champions League matches so far this season.
Amid wild speculation about the reasons for the club’s departure, it was reported last week that a lack of confidence was evident among the players due to Wurzenberger’s work for one of Germany’s most prominent publications.
After reports about it, the employer Build She confirmed on Wednesday that she will be leaving her role as local correspondent in Munich and will join BMW from April 1 as a ‘spokesperson for Supplier Network and Sustainability’.

Reporter Wurzenberger has been pulled from Bild’s coverage of Bayern Munich after Germany’s biggest outlet discovered she had an affair with Nagelsmann last summer.

Their relationship was said to have led to a “distrust” with the Bayern stars amid fears that “it will all end up in the paper”.
After Nagelsmann’s life was turned upside down after he became aware of his impending dismissal via social media, Wurzenberger decided to change his career.
Obviously planning a long and fruitful relationship together, Bild also reports that Nagelsmann and Wurzenberger are planning to build an estate on picturesque Lake Tegernsee, located in the Bavarian Alps.
Nagelsmann has been sacked with three years remaining on his contract with Bayern, which means he is poised for big payouts from the German giants.
Their relationship became public last year when they first appeared at an event together. Nagelsmann has two children from his previous marriage, which ended after 15 years last year.
Wurzenberger was last year removed from Bayern coverage by publication after it was revealed that she was having an affair with the club’s manager.
As word of his imminent departure spread quickly, Nagelsmann discovered his destiny on a skiing holiday with Wurzenberger.
It came as a shock to the wider football scene, but Bayern were keen to stress they were satisfied with the decision.
“When we signed Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern in the summer of 2021, we were convinced we would work with him for the long term – and that was our goal all the way to the end,” said club CEO Oliver. He said it was.
“Julian shares our aspirations to play successful and attractive football. But now we have come to the conclusion that the quality in our squad – despite last year’s Bundesliga title – has come less and less to the fore.
“After the World Cup, we played less successfully and less attractively. Big fluctuations in performance have cast doubt on our goals for this season, as well as our goals for the future. That is why we act now.
Former Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea coach Tuchel wasn’t prepared to wait until the summer, so the six-time Champions League winner moved quickly to install him with just two months left in the season.
Having been a candidate to replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham, Tuchel’s name was forced to be removed from Daniel Levy’s list – to be replaced, perhaps, by Nagelsmann.

Thomas Tuchel was immediately named as Nagelsmann’s replacement after the dismissal

Nagelsmann will take some time to consider his dismissal before making a decision about his future in the coming months
Tottenham twice previously tried to sign the German, in 2019 and before his appointment as Bayern coach in 2021.
His immediate availability and the fact that he could be appointed without having to pay compensation makes him a very attractive prospect, and Tottenham want to start talks with Nagelsmann about possibly becoming their new manager following Conte’s sacking.
but, Bild newspaper reported Nagelsmann will be taking his time before charting his next career move as he looks to move past his ‘painful’ departure from Bayern Munich.
The report goes on to claim that Nagelsmann wishes to analyze what went wrong in his 21 months at the club and let it sink in before moving on to a new location.
